Are you a researcher? Do you indulge in information? You read the books, listen to the podcasts, and watch videos but never seem to practice the things you learn.
You constantly go around in circles trying to find out the best technique for getting the results you want but the more you search the more overloaded you feel.
Spinning in information overload is a real thing and you need to be careful not to fall into the trap of being an information junkie – spending more time learning than achieving.
I’ve totally been there and here’s what I found:
Nothing changes until your behavior changes.
Why you need to take action.
Maybe you want to write a book, start your own business, get an advanced degree or meet the person of your dreams. None of these will happen simply in your mind. I guarantee you that you could sit in front of a window and meditate on whatever you would like to have in your life for years, and unless you take action, all you’ll get is a very sore booty.
In order to change your life you need to take action.
Ideas to help you take action:
1. Do something, anything!
Nothing happens until you act. You can’t wish or visualize your way to a plate of food, a fancy car, the partner or your dreams, or a successful business. While visualizing these outcomes might make it easier for you to act, taking action of some kind or another is the only way for it to manifest what you want in the real world.
Unless you’re telepathic, you can’t even make a paperclip move across your desk without taking action. The more you want to accomplish, the bigger the action you’ll need to take.
2. It’s not what you can do that matters.
It’s what you actually do that counts. The amount of capability you possess only increases the number of options you have available. Having options isn’t the same as choosing one and taking action.
3. Your beliefs, values, and thoughts influence your behavior.
You'er much more likely to attempt something if you think you could succeed. For example, if you believe that you’re smart and capable you will go about doing something very different than if you believe you’re simple minded, incapable.
Let’s look at some other examples:
Do you believe that failure is fine or should be avoided at all costs?
Do you believe that most people are inherently good or inherently bad?
What’s more important to you safety or adventure?
Do you have positive or negative outlook about your goals?
None of these things hold any actual power in the world, other than that they can alter the choices you make and the actions you take.
4. The law of averages is ultimately on your side.
If your dream is to play the piano, you can certainly do it as long as you find a teacher and practice. You simply have to keep trying. A pro pianist might play a certain piece better than you do, but you’ll most likely be successful eventually. When you take action, you get a result. Your results gives you feedback. Try enough times and you’re bound to get the result you want if you consistently take action. Eventually, the law of averages will pay off. Not taking action will always give you the same result. That result is a failure to achieve anything.
5. Action creates greater potential.
When you take action, you can learn something from your results. What you gain is the awareness of what to do or not do. Taking action causes things to change and opens your eyes to new opportunities.
When you take the first step, the next step appears. New things start happening when you start moving. Nothing actually happens while you’re learning, scheming, and planning.
Even the smallest action in your life can bring a huge difference.

Taking action gets you results.
Stop researching and start taking action! While more knowledge can give you more ways of looking at things, you can’t accumulate enough knowledge to change your life. Daydreaming and making grand plans will not take you down the path to success but knowledge + action will get you there. You just have to take a step and do new things.
When your behavior changes, your life changes.
How do you want your life to change? What can you do to make it happen? When will you get started? 'Cause I think you should start now!
